Crowdsourcing is a term coined by Jeff Howe in a June 2006 article in Wired Magazine that describes a business model in which jobs traditionally carried out by an employee or contractor are offered to the public.

There are many controversies sourounding crowdsourcing and collaborative works that have recieved national attention. Some of these topics include Wikipedia's legitimacy as a viable information resource and a social movement known as Citizen Journalism.
